The St. Louis Region of Fashion Group International (FGISTL) was founded in 1936, by a group of female fashion leaders as an industry forum for women’s career advancement, only eight years after the FGI global headquarters in New York was established. FGI now has chapters worldwide and a roster of over
5,000 active members in fashion and related design sectors including apparel, accessories, beauty, retail and lifestyle. Today, we remain dedicated to supporting fashion professionals at every level, from startup founders to seasoned corporate professionals. By providing access, education, and connection, FGI seeks to spark creativity, fuel innovation, and advance economic growth of the business of fashion in St. Louis & beyond. Vital benefits offered to FGI members include ongoing professional development opportunities, forums for discussion and networking, market insights, mentorship opportunities with industry leaders, business directories and resources, and high-profile event platforms for professional recognition.
The Opportunity

FGISTL is marking 90 years of support for the St. Louis fashion community in 2026. FGISTL is partnering with the Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) to organize a Met Gala Watch Party and 90th anniversary celebration, titled The Art of Style. Building on the success of the FGISTL watch party in 2025 at the Ritz, where over 170 guests showed the world how strong fashion is in St. Louis, the CAM partnership has the potential to double the number of guests. Proceeds from the event will fund FGI Rising Star candidates from St. Louis. To respect the CAM philosophy of giving open access to all, we will not charge an entrance fee to the event.
This opens opportunities to local businesses to sponsor The Art of Style.
The Art of Style Event Description
Guests will enter a world of fashion as living art on a red carpet where they can discuss their style with local fashion leaders among displays of fashion as art by local designers organized by Black Creatives in the Lou. In addition to a watch party of the Met Gala red carpet with large screen projection, the evening also celebrates the 90th anniversary of FGI through Images of Illusion II, a juried fashion editorial pop-up photo exhibition. Guests are also invited to become part of the festivities through their art-inspired, expressive, and intentional looks, drawing inspiration from the 2026 Met Gala theme, Costume Art. Look no further than CAM’s current exhibition And I Saw New Heavens and a New Earth: The Partnership, Art, and Activism of Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore for artistic representations of the body and self-representation. A guest runway walk will recognize outstanding individual interpretations of the theme. Throughout the evening, all guests will be treated to a DJ set, and drinks for purchase; a limited number of VIP packages with exclusive benefits are also available. The event cultivates an experience that is elevated, inclusive, and playful—where fashion, art, and community meet, and every guest is both artist and masterpiece.
